Gain These Benefits: Cancer and Hair

I am mad, angry, hurt, devastated and surely confused.

This culprit of a disease has hit my life in more ways than one.
Several family members,  aquaintances,  and friends and even on a more personal note my older sister  just two yer transitioned six years ago from this killer and my youngest sister is in remission from it now.
Research is the only path to a cure. If I can help spread awareness and the love I would be honored, to help improve the quality of life to whomever needs it, even if its just one person is an honor for me.
Like I mentioned earlier, cancer has touched my life devastatingly personally and mentally as well.

October is Breast Cancer awareness month.
Yearly mammograms saves lives.
Breast Cancer awareness month is an annual campaign that raises awareness of risks, the value of screenings and early detection.
Other than skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common among us  women.
Hair extensions and wigs can play a major part in a cancer survivors life, like it did for my younger sister.
She fought the emotional pain of hair loss, and more than just hair, extensions gave her the gift of confidence back along with hope and strength.
Nothing is more motivating than being told you can't do something.

Can I wear hair extensions?
Yes, you can get real hair extensions.
And feel like the gorgeous "you" again.
The suggested is the weave technique,  where you can get cornrows put in and then the extensions are sewed-in.
This makes a better more natural look.
You can still wash your hair, blow dry, curl or flat iron like your regular hair.
You may have to go every 2-4 month's for maintenance to have them removed and tightened but it is certainly doable.

With the weave technique
there's no glueing, clamping  or clipping involved, so no damage whatsoever.
All women's hair is individual so you need to consult with your own hairdresser with any pertinent questions you may have.

Free Wigs
In the past,
while some cancer patients we're able to afford a wig with help from insurance, or whatever the case may have  been, other cancer patients needed a little help and support and looked for free wigs.
The connection is and based on the ideas of The American Cancer Society, it is one of the most well known cancer awareness organizations.

The American Cancer Society is a donation and voluntary based industry that is working to provide support as well as create awareness and support cancer research.
Another essential point, "Gifted Closets" are located throughout the U.S.
A "Gifted Closet" is a location stocked with donations and free cancer related supplies for patients in need.
In the same way previously,  donations with tags attached are accepted by the many offices in order to provide free wigs to women experiencing hair loss and not being able to afford one.
Donations help these programs stay up and running.
If you would like to help out and donate you can call 1-800-ACS-2345 to find your local office.
In addition, keep in mind each office differs slightly.
You can search for this and their other worthwhile services at www.cancer.org
In conclusion, even hair salons participates in this program.
Some patients may prefer to wear hats, headbands or scarves for a more versatile look in seconds.

Therefore, specialty hats, scarves and headbands are designed for women with hair loss, are very affordable and is a cost effective solution or can be used to compliment your wig.
A silk or satin cap is necessary for keeping your head warm at night.

In brief, go ahead and continue to do you...be drop dead irresistible.
Nobody has to know your secrets unless you want them to.
